Amine El Gotaibi writes in wool the variations of
seduction, in this space of contrasts, sometimes bright, sometimes dark. Wool becomes
a transmitter between the history of the fields and the history of palaces,
between the light from outside and the dark corners of power. The wool sings the
weapons and the melodies of the mountain people, the wool carries with it the currents
of freedom. The wool enchants our imagination suggesting another order, other
tensions, other social hierarchies. The sheep themselves pose, dance, have a blast.
The artist produces a disruption of the senses, and the public understands it
as soon as they enter this field of experimentation. A site of sensitive
emotions. To become a herd, advancing at the tempo of the others, to put the
nose in a circular ceremony, turning in loop. The public will undoubtedly know how
to find their way between the wools, and get lost too. Let's be a little
wilder, the artist asks us, to better understand our animality and, thus, our
familiarity with these fragile mammals, at the mercy of our lust...
